Here is the review of the Bissell 1605 Smart Clean Robot Vacuum. It is really great. The removable dust bin to do a great job of collecting the dirt and debris. It’s very quick and easy to pull out and empty into the garbage. You can even rinse the filter and bin with water.

It features triple action cleaning, which basically means it has two edge brushes, one on each side, that help push dirt and debris into the middle where the brush roll and vacuum suck it up into the canister. The brush roll was a bit larger for a wider cleaning path. On a positive note, the suction seems powerful to help pull most things up, and the dual-edge brushes do a great job of pushing things into the middle for it to pick up.
Another feature is the multi-surface cleaning, so it self-adjusts to easily cover carpet, hard floors, tile, and laminate. You can also program in a schedule for convenient auto cleanings. When it’s done cleaning it automatically shuts off the main vacuum which is to conserve battery, which is smart, and then auto-searches and docks to recharge itself.
It also has cliff detection to avoid stairs and other drop-offs, and it works 100% of the time. It has multiple cleaning modes, spiral, edge, random and Z pattern. The on-device touch controls are okay, a little confusing to maneuver. It shows remaining battery life while it’s cleaning; however, it does show battery percent when charging on the dock, which is helpful.
It’s really amazing, and kind of disgusting how much stuff is on our floors that you can’t see, but the Bissell will find and pick up for you.
It seems to do a very comprehensive cleaning job. But just inefficiently because there’s no camera eye to map out your rooms, just a lot of random bumping around. On a positive note, if it misses something, it will probably be back multiple times to cover the area again and again.
It is a little loud. You wouldn’t be running this while you have company over.
It’s fun to watch buzzing around and neat to see it clean hard to reach areas like under furniture cabinets and lips in the kitchen. It can sometimes hit problem areas. For example, if you have a super thick shag rug, it will often avoid those areas by using its sensors, which is nice.
Final Thoughts
This makes for a great complimentary cleaning device, but it’s not a replacement cleaning device. In other words, with all the robot vacs on the market, including this one, you can’t throw out your stand-up vac just yet. The Bissell was awesome to run every day or every other day. And it will do about 90% of the cleaning for you, but you still need to bring out your stand up the vac, maybe a couple of times a month to do a more thorough deep cleaning. But overall, that’s pretty amazing. If you think about it, it will do all this cleaning for you while you sit back and relax.
